Limited Edition Ostrich Egg

Seasonal Cornish Goose Egg

They say big is beautiful, and it certainly applies to this oval delight. The Ostrich egg is encased in a thick, large, smooth shell, making it ideal for decorating after use. Our special Ostriches are South African Blacks, whom are incredibly inquisitive and majestic birds. They lay their eggs four to five hours before dusk to protect them from the heat of the sun, as they would do in the wild.

The Ostrich box is available from selected Waitrose stores. Clarence Court only produce this egg when the birds are in their laying season.

With its mild flavour and distinctive texture this egg is approximately equivalent to twenty-four large hen eggs. Making our Ostrich egg one of a kind, fantastic for a big family breakfast or perhaps an interesting feature at a dinner party. However you enjoy this delightful egg you are sure to have enough to go around.

To soft boil, place in boiling water for approximately 50 minutes, to hard boil 1-½ hours. Please be aware the shells will retain their heat for up to 2 hours after boiling.

When using for omelettes or scrambled eggs carefully make a hole in the bottom of the egg and empty into a mixing bowl, prepare the mixture as per standard hen eggs. Cooking the egg this way will enable you to keep the shell intact and use for decorating.
