Gladys May’s Braddock White Duck Eggs

Monday 5th November 2007

Speciality egg producer Clarence Court is re-launching its Gladys May’s Braddock White duck eggs. From November, the ivory-white eggs, laid by ducks named after the famous Braddock Down in Cornwall, will be encased in a vibrant yellow egg box befitting of the famous Clarence Court seal.

With arguably one of the most responsible animal welfare ethos in the industry, Clarence Court ensures their ducks – like their traditional breeds of chickens – lead a picture-perfect lifestyle, and are free to roam and forage on acres of green pasture from dawn to dusk. They have even built a specially designed flushable-pond, so the ducks can swim and bath in clean water, no matter how muddy the winter months get.

A favourite with foodies, Braddock White duck eggs have a distinctive creamy flavour and large golden yolk, making them ideal for scrambling or baking. Why not impress friends with a warm duck egg salad, tempt your teatime tastebuds with duck egg chocolate brownies or keep it simple and serve soft boiled duck eggs with hot buttery soldiers?

The Clarence Court range includes colourful favourites such as Old Cotswold Legbars, Mabel Pearman’s Burford Browns and Free to Fly Quails Eggs. Benefiting from a unique flavour and texture typical of the old fashioned pure breeds, these eggs add a touch of magic to all occasions. Founded in 1990, with the aim of creating a truly free range company, Clarence Court prides itself on producing eggs that are laid by birds which enjoy everything that a normal healthy hen requires for its freedom of expression and fullness of life. No wonder celebrity chefs such as Mark Hix – who has created a bespoke series of seasonal recipes for Clarence Court – and Jamie Oliver are fans, both using the eggs in their restaurants.

Says Clarence Court Director Lisa Rowe, “Our ducks live a free range, peaceful life, so it’s no surprise that their eggs taste so delicious. Pearly white, they’re visually a real show-stopper too, making them a unique and rather special dinner party gift.”

Gladys May’s Braddock White duck eggs are available from Waitrose, Fortnum & Mason, Harrods and Whole Foods and cost from £2.25.
